(Matthew 5:14)

That is a VERY different message from being called a miserable sinner. In fact, it's just the opposite. Jesus said that we are not part of the problem but part of the solution. He encourages us to think of ourselves as a power for good in the present and the future. He was not dwelling in the past.

He expects us to be like him.
